I bought a new pair of headphones and a headphone amplifier from Headphonic .  I couldn't resist as the headphones where on special and I'd been shopping around and reading reviews for a few months.  I chose a pair of Beyerdynamic DT990s (250ohm) and an Einar Sound VC-01i.  I was fairly sure on the headphones but took a bit of a chance because nobody I know had a pair for me to test out.  The amplifier was recommended to me by the store and I followed it up with some research on the Internet.

I'm burning the headphones in with a mix of drumbeats and pink noise inbetween listening to them.  Getting this new gear has given me more encouragement to finish building up my PC again so that I can listen to them on my Asus Xonar D2X.
